1. About CritIndex

CritIndex ("we", "us", "our") is a game journalism discovery platform operated at critindex.com. It indexes publicly available game journalism metadata (article titles, authors, outlets, publication dates, and links) to help readers discover writers whose work they value. CritIndex does not host, reproduce, or store article text.

2. Acceptance

By accessing or using CritIndex you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. We may update these Terms at any time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

3. Accounts

You may use CritIndex without an account. Creating an account lets you leave text reviews, vote on other reviews, and (with a Pro subscription) access additional features. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. You must be at least 13 years old to register.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Submit false, abusive, or harassing content in reviews
• Attack journalists as individuals rather than critiquing their work
• Manipulate ratings through coordinated voting, bots, or multiple accounts
• Attempt to scrape, crawl, or harvest data in bulk without written permission
• Interfere with the platform's operation or security

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.

5. User-Generated Content

By submitting a review or rating you grant CritIndex a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and distribute that content on the platform. You retain ownership. You confirm that your content does not infringe any third-party rights and does not contain personal attacks on individuals.

6. Subscriptions & Billing

CritIndex Pro is a recurring subscription billed through Lemon Squeezy (our Merchant of Record). All payments, refunds, and tax obligations are handled by Lemon Squeezy. See our Refund Policy for cancellation terms.

7. Intellectual Property

The CritIndex platform, design, and original content are our property. Article metadata (titles, authors, dates) is factual data and not subject to copyright. Third-party trademarks, logos, and article titles remain the property of their respective owners.

8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

CritIndex is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for the content of third-party articles linked from the platform. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Netherlands, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under EU law.
